Todd Ketchum of Victory Surfaces honed the latter to give the impression of gentle aging over decades, with stunning results. Ketchum is also responsible for the custom farm sink, and other marble and granite surfaces in the kitchen. With barely a straight edge in the house, the painstaking task of installing the intricate cabinetry within the kitchen's asymmetrical confines fell to e Kitchen Wright in Carmel, an exclusive dealer for Woodmode cabinetry and millwork. Tailored to within a millimeter to occupy every bit of available space, and finished with cast hardware from Top Knob, the cabinets present seamless old-world charm on the outside while concealing upscale Miele appliances from Lee Supply, also in Carmel, within. "We have two children, ages 12 and 10," said the lady of the house. "Both like to cook, especially our youngest, so the kitchen was always meant to be a family affair and needed to be one that would stand the test of time, and slime and cupcakes and all things in between. Our kids think it's cool to knock on the dishwasher and have it open, and my husband and I are spoiled by our six- burner 48-inch gas range with double oven." During the two years it took to return the home's interior to its original glory, virtually every lighting and plumbing fixture was replaced and original floors refinished. Rosalind Brinn Pope of Pope Interiors remains the interior designer on the project, with two rooms yet to be furnished. "We just love Roz and her Southern wit, and we respect her eye. I didn't want a designer who'd say yes to everything I like," one of the owners enthused. "Roz helped us infuse our personalities into every room, and reined us in when we got too crazy." A beverage cooler increases kitchen storage space, while a built-in coffeemaker keeps the homeowners amply caffeinated. 72
